The Curl

So in my post last week {{Barre So Hard}}, and in a few other posts, you know I’ve mentioned ‘the curl’.  Well today, I’m sharing with you what it looks like + some other ab work that is done on the bar.

For this first move you see below, you keep a flat back up against the mat, pull your abs in, and ‘diamond out’ your feet and open & close them.  As you know, improving my ab work at the bar has been on my to-do list at Carolina Barre & Core these past couple weeks along with the curl.

And now without further ado..the curl :

Per my post last week, the curl is when your lower back is on the floor, shoulders are lifted and away from your ears, and your feet are planted on the ground with bent knees & you hold.  If holding on gets to be too much, one modification is dropping to your elbows while keeping your same curl form & lower back to the floor.  Don’t think you’re getting shorted the workout if you drop to your elbows though.  You are still working while in this modified position.  It helps train your core, back & body to better improve your curl!  Even though it’s still a work in progress for me, I’d have to say, this is one of my favorite parts of class because it constantly challenges me.

Have any of you ever given the curl a try?  What’d you think?  What exercise routines are challenging and/or easy for you?  Please share in the comments below!

AS ALWAYS, feel free to spread the love of missEtayla by sharing this post with your family and friends via Social Media!
