Teachin’ UP on a Tuesday – Giving Style

Alright, stop.  Collaborate & SHOP.

So today kicks off the first of two days in the ShopStyle and Dress for Success’s Giving Back collaboration.  Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that not only empowers women to achieve economic independence, but also provides professional attire, support, and all of the necessary tools to equip them for success.  Today {{Dec. 8th}} through tomorrow {{Dec. 9th}}, I will be contributing 10% of the sales from my blog to Dress for Success and ShopStyle will match 100% of my contribution!  If you ask me, this is quite a powerful collaboration and you have the opportunity to be a part of it by online shopping!  Can we say winning?!?

Speaking of winning, I must say that today I am loving my outfit.  I feel the most confident when I love what I’m wearing, especially when it’s topped off with a sassy shade of lipstick.  Sounds simple, but you know those days when it’s a little more difficult to get up and get going?  I’m not even kidding when I tell you that especially on these kinds of mornings I am more motivated to wake up because I already have my outfit planned.  I literally get excited & already feel good about the day and it all starts with my outfit.  I’m pretty sure I’ve done this since I was a teenager and I would say that style icons like Lauren Conrad {{Laguna anyone?!}} and Reese Witherspoon // the VHS (now un-bound, loose film), version of Legally Blonde have something to do with it.  These two women rose above the ‘glam’ of the Hollywood lifestyle and created their own brands.  Each of them participate in giving back and truly set an example of what it means to be a successful, respectable, hard-working, kind, & of course, stylish woman.

I’m sure you’ve heard before that when you like what you’re wearing, you feel better about yourself.  I believe this is true.  To me, it’s like the perfect cause & effect situation:  loving & feeling comfortable in what you’re wearing is the cause and the effect is you loving yourself & being comfortable in your own skin and this automatically allows you to feel more confident and ready to take on each day!
