Y’all! Hi! I feel like it’s been forever. I am just now honestly starting to feel refreshed & normal again after NYFW. NYFW was ah-maz-zing!! I only had two full days out of the week, but they were two great days packed full of all things fashion week. For my first NYFW, having just two days was a nice way to dip my toes in.
(PS – full disclosure, some of these pics are from my phone, so they make look a little different quality-wise. Sorry ’bout it).
The first day I arrived in NYC and went to the hotel to drop my things off. There I met up with my blogger loves & roomies for the weekend – Alyssa (ahintofhazel), Alexis (IG: @alifeofclarity), and later to the party, Lauren (laurenschwaiger). Soon after arriving, Alyssa, Alexis, & I went to my first NYFW presentation put on by the New York School of Design.
The designers here were students (except for the guy you see pictured above) and their work was amazing. Seriously SO talented. After the NYSD presentation, we went and snapped some photos down the street in our OOTD.
I am obsessed with this skort from Vestique. It also comes in suede and so I grabbed it in the Olive Suede as well. Too cute to pass up. This top is from T.J. Maxx, but I’ve linked some similar ones that I like at the bottom of this post!
Next was the WWD Samsung Panel on Fashion Creators, Makers & Doers in the Social Media Age with WWD’s Digital Director Sophia Chabbott, Olivia Culpo, Jasmine Sanders, and Aureta. This panel was so awesome to sit in on. There were talks of style trends, how to stay true to yourself, make a positive influence and so much more! I learned so much.
Later that night, Lauren and I went to a little Maskcara get together to learn about their makeup, which was amazing! Y’all know I love my Beautycounter, but I also really like this stuff too and it is also pretty clean makeup. We then went to dinner with some other Style Collective girls to 5 Napkin Burger. It was SO good!! My girl Jess (IG: @jesskatt123) and I split a turkey burger and some fries. SO yum! Between 7 girls we split 3 appetizers: Avocado hummus (my personal fave), Nachos, and Cheese fries. So yikes, but so delish. After all this + a little rojo wine, the words pillow and bed never sounded so good.
At the start of day two, we were on a mission for some coffee so we went to Gregory’s. That mission soon led to a few errands, one in particular, Zara. Lauren needed a better bag and I had never been so we thought why not?! I am definitely a fan! Next thing we knew we were rushing back to the hotel to get ready for a 12pm Galtiscopio show.
We were running a few minutes behind and unfortunately didn’t get into the show so we met up with some other SC girls and took some photos and grabbed a quick bite to eat before our next show at 3 pm, Vaishali. I was loving my OOTD for this day because it was simple yet had a little somethin’ somethin’ with the floral and flared crop jeans. This is the same day I BUSTED it. I was too busy Snappin’ and bam, I tripped over a curb. I was okay. Best part is I actually managed to hold my finger down and snap the whole thing. Impressive, eh?
We learned our lesson from the 12 pm show and go to the 3 pm show V early and were able to get in! Our assigned seats were “Standing”, but we were able to sit on the 3rd row, which was pretty awesome! The music was so cool and all of the models looked gorgeous, of course!
After the Vaishali show, a few of us ventured to the Sam Edelman Lifestyle Collection Premiere event. SO fun! They have some serious cute PJs coming out that I cannot wait to get my hands on. We were able to sip on champs and get our hair done by GlamSquad.
Next up we had the Cindy Monteiro show. Again, got there early enough to make it in and this time on the third row. Movin’. On. Up.
I loved all of the designs literally in every show. Everything was so gorgeous! I also wish I could have a soundtrack from the shows, music game was one hundy. These designers are so talented & I am so glad and thankful that I was able to attend their shows!
Next up we had the Style Collective NYFW party! The rose was flowing, jams were playing, and all of the SC girls were mingling.
Unfortunately most of my pics from the SC event were Snap & IG stories, or were just awful quality on my phone ha, sorry y’all!
After the SC event, we went to a late dinner with a few ladies at Dos Caminos, it was pretty good! Their guac is now in my top 5 AND it was even a little spicy (if you know me you know that I am not a fan of spicy so this is big for me).
Anyway on Saturday morning, we got up and Lauren and I ventured to get some coffee at Joe & the Juice before I left them to go to Brooklyn.
So after coffee, I made my way to Brooklyn to visit one of my besties from home, Ginny.
(I am obsessed with walls like you see above + these apartment buildings below).
Later that night we had some drinks on her rooftop then ordered some NY ‘za and went to a few bars around Bushwick.
I wish my flight wasn’t so early on Sunday so we could have spent some more time out, but I had a great time! Overall y’all, this trip was seriously so great!! I still can’t believe I went and experienced everything that I did. It still seems surreal to me. I am so so grateful that I had the opportunity to go & see all the shows I was able to + just experience all the things in that great city. I really hope that I get to go back next year!
If you are wondering if you could even have the opportunity to go to NYFW, I say go for it. You never know until you try it. I made it a goal to go this year, and I did. You can too! You can absolutely reach out to me if you have questions and/or you can check out Style Collective to find out some more info and chat w/ other bloggers & influencers.
